So I’ve discovered that writing about “Jasmine Wilhite” is not as easy as it used to be. At one point in my past, if I had to explain who I was in one sentence, it would go a little something like this: Jasmine Wilhite is a well-rounded, hardworking individual who excels academically, won’t settle for anything less than her very best, and whose greatest achievement in life is maintaining being a Superior Honor Student. Yep! That about wraps it up. But after spending 20 years of my life chasing after grades and my own goals, the Lord called me into a deeper understanding of who I really need to be chasing after. Despite claiming Christianity all that time because I grew up in the church (and everybody who grows up in the church is a Christian, right? Wrong!) I became truly saved quietly, in the comforts of my own home, on August 7, 2014. Ever since then, the slow-growing fire for God I have has been burning away the young woman I knew myself to be. Although I still have a TON of growing to do (which will never be done) and have made numerous mistakes along the way, I can tell a transformation is taking place in me slowly but surely. God is changing my desires, my outlook on life, the world, and the people in it. God’s glory is honestly what is motivating this introvert in love with isolation to make the move of putting her world out there for as many people to see as possible, whether that be 1 person or 1,000. So today I will ask myself: How would you describe “Jasmine Wilhite” right now? She is a young woman who is making an effort to expand her world beyond the classroom because she has discovered Someone so much greater. She is practicing her submission to God in order for Him to change her as He sees fit for the purpose He has blessed her with. So with all that being said, I pray that y’all enjoy this blog that God and I are creating together with hopes to spread the Word of the Living God to a dying world who doesn’t have much time.
